Program Basics:

Grassroots.org recruits volunteers to help its individual nonprofit members develop graphic design materials. Volunteer projects include designing logos, letterhead and business cards.

All volunteer designers are invited to browse the volunteer bulletin board. If an organization's request interests you, send an introductory e-mail to the contact person listed on the opportunity (Please cc laura@grassroots.org on all initial e-mails).

Motivation:

The Volunteer Graphic Design program stems from the immense need for graphic design materials amongst small nonprofits. Items such as letterhead and business cards can make even the smallest nonprofit look professional.

And for the volunteer, donating your skills to a nonprofit organization translates into a meaningful real-world design experience. In addition to an opportunity to build your portfolio, Grassroots.org's designers also realize that they are helping very worthy causes.
